THE ORGANIZATION

John Snow Inc. (JSI) is a contractor for United State Agency for International Development (USAID) and is working as part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and other US government funded health interventions. JSI primarily endeavors to strengthen or establish secure, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chains capable of meeting the care and treatment needs of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases.  In coordination with in-country and international partners, JSI assists programs to enhance their supply-chain capacity; ensure that accurate supply-chain information is collected, shared, and used; and provide quality, affordable, health care products to those who need them.

The JSI Tanzania field office SCMS project and USAID|Deliver Project are recruiting the following position which are full time position.

POSITION:       SYSTEMS AND NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR (1 POSITION)

REPORTS TO: IT MANAGER

LOCATIONS:   DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA COUNTRY OFFICE

Overall Responsibilities:

The Systems and Network Administrator will work under the guidance of IT Manager; will provide day to day support in the IT Unit, provide systems and network administration support including security of the network provided by the organization. 

Specific Responsibilities:

The duties of a Network Administrator include and not limited to the following;

§  To create and manage user profile on Active Directory and exchange mailboxes.

§  To maintaining and trouble shoot existing network for voice and data and to design new LAN for data and voice when required.

§  Liaising with the ISP to ensure steady and seamless provision of internet services for smooth office operations.

• Monitor network performances by ensuring network availability and sharing information on anticipated/planned down times.
• To work with IT user support to plan, co-ordinate, and implement preventive maintenance and network security patches for local machines and network devices.
• To manage performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources.

§  To configure, maintain and allocate internet bundle usage according to the needs and priorities.

§  To install, configure, and maintain servers-software.

§  To maintain JSI network, email accounts and credentials.

§  To oversee the daily operations of computer networks. This would include the hardware/software support, special projects, and training.

§  To maintain network mapping, start-up, installation, maintenance, and improvement (upgrade) of the server software’s.

§  Responsible for ensuring LAN/WAN network connectivity of JSI is adequate.

§  To ensure security of the equipment, server room access and the authentication to LAN/WAN network and applications to authorized users.

§  Manage and maintain corporate wireless backbone and credentials.

§  Configuration and maintenance of Cisco firewall and switches.

• Perform routine/scheduled backups and archival of user and systems files stored on the network.
• Maintaining the operating system and security software utilized on the network, including the addition of new users to the network and establishment of rights and privileges.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• Experience in working with Active Directories, Ms Exchange Server 2008 and Windows server Enterprise 2008 R2
• Basic knowledge of PABX management.
• Considerable network administration and security methods and techniques.
• Degree in computer science or relevant.
• Valid professional certification is preferred.
• Demonstrate hands on experience in network administration and security.
• Extensive knowledge of computer network system protocols.
• Intensive and extensive knowledge of standard computer languages, including LINUX and Windows OS.
• Good knowledge of IP addressing and TCP/IP networking.
• Strong knowledge of network management practices and procedures.
