THE ORGANIZATION
John Snow Inc. (JSI) is a contractor for United
State Agency for International Development (USAID) and is working as part of
the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s
Malaria Initiative (PMI) and other US government funded health interventions.
JSI primarily endeavors to strengthen or establish secure, reliable,
cost-effective, and sustainable supply chains capable of meeting the care and
treatment needs of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, Malaria,
and other diseases. In coordination with
in-country and international partners, JSI assists programs to enhance their
supply-chain capacity; ensure that accurate supply-chain information is
collected, shared, and used; and provide quality, affordable, health care
products to those who need them.
The JSI Tanzania field office SCMS
project and USAID|Deliver Project are recruiting the following position which
is full time position.
POSITION: IT USER SUPPORT (1 POSITION)
REPORTS TO: IT MANAGER
LOCATION: DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA COUNTRY OFFICE
JOB SUMMARY
The
IT User Support will work under the guidance of IT Manager; he / she will
provide first line support to JSI staff, assisting them with hardware and
software problems.
Specific
Responsibilities:
The IT User Support includes
and not limited to the following;
- Provide first line technical support including answering support queries through phone and email
- Installing basic and standard application software and hardware on personal computers, network devices
- Support users located in zones in various technical issues
- Taking ownership of user problems and be pro-active when dealing with them including responding to enquiries from users, support by solving technical hardware and software problems
- Maintaining, updating a log of any software and hardware problems detected
- Assembling, repair and maintain hardware equipments; support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary basic training and advice
- Also to escalate complex calls to IT Manager, keeping records and manage the ICT inventory, follow up on software licenses validity, document and update the network diagrams for both data and voice, and maintaining telephone manager system and produce report from the system.
- Other duties includes; carrying out daily client systems checks, produce monthly reports on clients’ systems, update client configuration files, pre-build PCs and laptops and; carry out in-house system testing and preventive maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- Previous user support experience.
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows based OS.
- Some TCP/IP experience.
- Basic understanding of hardware and software set-up and configuration.
- MCP certification would be desirable.
- ‘Hands on’ approach and willingness to learn.
- Flexible, pro-active approach.
- Should prove to abide with JSI core values.
