John Snow Inc. (JSI) is a contractor for United
State Agency for International Development (USAID) and is working as part of
the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s
Malaria Initiative (PMI) and other US government funded health interventions.
JSI primarily endeavors to strengthen or establish secure, reliable,
cost-effective, and sustainable supply chains capable of meeting the care and
treatment needs of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, Malaria,
and other diseases. In coordination with
in-country and international partners, JSI assists programs to enhance their
supply-chain capacity; ensure that accurate supply-chain information is
collected, shared, and used; and provide quality, affordable, health care
products to those who need them.
The JSI Tanzania field office SCMS
project and USAID|Deliver Project are recruiting the following positions which
are full time positions.
POSITION: KNOWLEDGE
MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (1 POSITION)
REPORTS TO: COUNTRY DIRECTOR AND
CHIEF OF PARTY
LOCATIONS: DAR
ES SALAAM, TANZANIA COUNTRY OFFICE
Overall Responsibilities:
John Snow Inc., and its sister organization JSI
Research and Training Institute, Inc.,
are US-based technical assistance firms, implementing various public
health-related projects in Tanzania. The
primary focus of those projects it to provide technical assistance in
strengthening the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare’s (MOHSW) service
delivery. The Knowledge Management position will support all projects run out
of the JSI Tanzania office.
Specific Responsibilities:
Primary
responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
·
Manage the content,
production and dissemination of the project newsletter.
·
Manage the development and
implementation of communications tasks including the production of project
presentation materials, including PowerPoint presentations and abstracts.
·
Represent the USAID | DELIVER
PROJECT and SCMS in public forums, USAID meetings, professional conferences,
and global advocacy opportunities as assigned.
·
Provide support to team with writing, editing, and
strategic planning support. Assist the
project management team in the implementation of the global communications and
advocacy strategies.
·
Assist in planning and
implementing Project special events (coordination of meetings, workshops,
seminar series), as required.
·
Responsible for quality
assurance of project materials which may include editing and proofreading of
project documentation and reports or identifying and managing resources for
material development (e.g. home office KM Team or consultants).
·
Manages process for monthly
TO Reports, which includes requesting information from project, compiling and
editing documents, managing production process, managing technical review and
dissemination to client and project.
·
Contribute to planning,
development and dissemination of project documentation including success
stories, case studies, and blog articles.
·
Support the writing and editing of abstracts for
conferences to assist dissemination of program achievements.
·
Visit the field and conduct interviews with health
care workers and/or other stakeholders for success story documentation.
·
Act as a link between USAID|DELIVER and SCMS’s head
office with the Tanzanian team on communication related issues
·
Track project activities to be compiled into
monthly, quarterly and annual reports
·
Attend major project events, take photographs and
notes for reporting
·
Attend major meetings and act as a rapporteur
·
Work with the Country Director and Chief of Party
on any communications requests as they arise
·
Maintain communication and close collaboration with
other JSI projects operating in Tanzania such as MCHIP
QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
·
Degree in public health, communications, or
related fields or equivalent professional experience. Advanced degree in public
health or communications preferred.
·
3-5 years of experience in communications,
preferably in public health or related area.
Developing country work or health communications experience a plus.
·
Demonstrated professional writing,
communications and/or editing skills and experience.
·
Ability to work independently as well as in
a team.
·
Excellent interpersonal and presentation
skills required. Public speaking and marketing experience desirable.
·
Excellent organizational and analytical
skills.
·
Ability to work comfortably in the MS
Office package, specifically MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Dreamweaver and Photoshop
preferred.
