Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer Superintendent we seek to appoint a HME Mechanic at our Bulyanhulu gold mining operation.
The purpose of this position is to conduct preventative, corrective & unplanned repairs to the mobile equipment fleet. In addition, the incumbent must comply with all company procedures, laid down rules, regulations and safety standards, whilst maintaining the Barrick core values and attaining best industry standards.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform field level risk assessments
• Maintenance of all equipment within the mobile equipment fleet, aiming to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimise availability at the lowest total ownership cost
• Overhaul equipment and components in accordance with company policies, procedures, O.E.M. guidelines and best industry practice
• Identify and analyse premature component / equipment failure utilising root cause Tap root analysis
• Complete required testing and safety checks on specified equipment as required
• Attend to breakdowns and complete all necessary fault finding in a safe and diligent manner
• Comply with all statutory and legislative requirements
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and mentoring to less experience personnel
• Demonstrate by example a high level of housekeeping and environmental awareness with an emphasis on hydrocarbon disposal and management
• Implementation and execution of all tasks and instructions as instructed by Superiors
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Completion of a structured and recognised mechanical apprenticeship
• A mechanical trade certificate, from a recognised and authorised body (FTC)
Experience Requirements:
• Complete understanding of diesel engine construction, maintenance and operation
• Conversant with torque converter and multi clutch transmission systems and their control
• Conversant with hydraulic system construction and operation
• Auto electrical knowledge of starter and charging circuits
• Experience as a mobile maintenance artisan, in a production industry environment
• Experience of underground mobile mining equipment (e.g. Sandvik) & operations
• Experienced in skills transfer and team development, in a cross cultural environment
