We are now offering an exciting opportunity in Health, Safety and Environment, in Mozambique. This critical role will ensure the successful implementation of health, safety and environment (HSE) standards on the new mineral sands mine, to ensure total system integration and zero harm.
Responsabilities:
- Prepare and execute the annual HSE plans and budgets
- Keep track of emerging HSE issues, information, technology and regulatory trends
- Determining the HSE priorities with reference to customer requirements, legislation and business plans
- Managing the delivery of the plan by monitoring and evaluating HSE results and standards
- Compiling and managing HSE expenditure according to the approved Planned Budget
- Allocating and coordinating people and resources to achieve the HSE
- Implement and promote appropriate HSE strategies and standardised processes, systems and tools within the project
- Define role requirements and annual performance objectives with regard to HSE staff
- Collaborate with non-government organizations, local communities, government and regulatory agencies (regional), professional bodies andacademic institutions in order to raise the HSEC profile of Rio Tinto.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in HSE or a related field
- Significant experience in a similar operational role in HSE, ideally in mining or heavy industries projects
- Demonstrated record of safety performance and safety improvements
- The ability to facilitate risk assessment and incident/injury investigation teams
- Previous experience in interpreting and implementing HSE legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Prior experience in designing and implementing HSE systems and processes in a project environment
- Portuguese language skills are desirable.
