The successful individual will be responsible for providing overall Finance support to Sales teams and Management. The role places high demand on accuracy, attention to detail and business owners influence ability.
Overall Purpose of the Controller:
Overall support of the BU/Segment and Channel P&Ls together with the onsite Financial Controller, Segment/Channel Sales Director and General Manager
Business partnering and commercial decision support to Segment Sales Management
Support of accurate, timely, relevant financial planning (quarterly forecast and weekly outlook)
Support Financial Planning and Analysis team on reporting, sales quota, partner rebates and ad-hoc analysis
Share Best Practice with other Controllers.
Deliver strong level of Business Controls.
Tasks and Objectives:
Business Partnering and Commercial Decision Support
Commercial Decision support to Sales Mgt team (Market analysis, Product Mix, Pipeline reviews at segment level)
Partnering with Marketing and pricing teams to support demand generating activities and be aware of general cost environment
Attend local business reviews, daily pulses, sales teams weekly meetings, Marketing focus points. Where appropriate, help resolving commercial issues/blocks to performance in accordance with existing policies.
Sub-segment analysis and recommendations to sales leaders to maximize business performance against financial targets (drive process improvements, ad hoc data gathering & analysis to support decision-making, reviews, etc.)
Support over-achievement of Sales Productivity targets by closely monitoring resources alignment, activity levels (phone activity, Online, conversion rations, etc)
Leverage Business Intelligence team to deliver ongoing support on segmentation / competitive analysis.
Support finance team via operating expenditure analysis and then assisting on idea generation for operating expenditure reduction as well as the implementation of operating expenditure reduction plans.
Profitability control
Maximize profitability at segment level through segment P&L optimization
Drive Gross margin controls (daily margin check, run rate vs bids, % vs $, etc)
Provide pricing guidance / sign-off for Run-Rate business in accordance with Discount matrix
Closely collaborate with Local and/or Regional Pricing teams to optimize Bid pricing assumptions and ensure timely sign-off
Support Credit and Collection activities
Ensure OPEX spend is within agreed limits
Planning & Analysis
Support forecast cycle at segment level by modeling “Bottom up” at Account level and Sales resource level. Understand rationale and assumptions taken by Sales and marketing team at segment level. Ensure timely submissions
Track Operating expenditure scaling at Segment level
Assist outlook & forecast reviews for Segment including weekly pack review prior to submission, ensuring all known sensitivities identified and shared with Financial Director.
Participate in Sales quota setting with segment Sales Director.
Ensure Channel P&L issued in a timely manner with appropriate commentary.
Actively participate in preparation of Quarterly Ops review and Segment councils.
Business Controls
Support all aspect of Business controls for the Segment (Discount policies, Margin delegation, etc)
Support Control Self-Assessment cycles.
Support Revenue Recognition process during Close.
Required Skills:
- Degree in Engineering/Finance/Marketing
- 5-8 years experience on high visible finance positions with previous Financial Planning & Analysis experience
- Fluent in English
- Interest in IT products and knowledge of the market
