REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

This request for expressions of interest follows the general procurement notice for this program that appeared in the UN Development Business online on 18 January 2011.

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ministry of Water, through the East African Community (EAC), has received a grant from the African Development Fund (ADF) and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to eligible payments for consultancy services for design and supervision services for water and sanitation schemes in the focal towns of Geita, Sengerema and Nansio in Tanzania.

The Ministry of Water of the United Republic of Tanzania (MOW) has delegated Mwanza Urban Water and Sewerage Authority (MWAUWASA) as the program implementing entity.

The services include update of the feasibility design parameters, design and supervise construction of an efficient, cost-effective and sustainable water, sanitation and solid waste management infrastructure that will increase access to potable water and sanitation services. The duration of the services is for three years from October 2011.

The Mwanza Urban Water and Sewerage Authority (MWAUWASA) now invites consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide a statement of capability and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, proof of legal status, etc.).

A short list of six firms will be compiled in accordance with the procedures set out in the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants”, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. The Recipient is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.
