COMPANY SECRETARY - Akiba Commercial Bank

Akiba Commercial Bank Limited, a leading microfinance bank in Tanzania, is currently seeking to recruit for a qualified Tanzanian to fill the following vacant position based at its Dr es Salaam Head Office. The successful candidate will join a team of highly motivated and dedicated professionals working in an enabling environment.

1. COMPANY SECRETARY

This is a key position in the bank. It reports to the Managing Director. The incumbent is responsible for the following roles, among others.

- He/she heads the legal department and is a member of the senior management team

- To work as a Secretary to the Board of Directors and the Bank’s Annual

General Meeting

- To submit, on a timely basis, the banks annual returns to the Registrar of companies.

- To handle and oversee all of litigations (court cases, etc) involving the bank

- To provide legal opinions and advises to the banks management and the Board of Directors

- To actively participate in the recovery of non-performing loans

- To effectively manage and supervise a team of legal personnel in his department

- To perform any other duties as assigned by his superiors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A good University Degree in Law (LLB)

- He/she must be registered as an Advocate of the high court


- A sound knowledge in conducting meetings at the Board level, including taking minutes

- A proven leader and people manager
- A strong knowledge of the operating environment (the banking industry).
