The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) through the National AIDS Control Programme with support from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) "is looking to recruit 3 suitable candidates to fill in the following vacant posts. The successful candidates will work under contractual agreement for a period of one year with a possibility of renewal.
Position Title : Program Officer - Pharmaceutical
Reporting to : Head of Unit - Care and Treatment, NACP
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration regional, district and partners develops and reviews guidelines Ior the management of patients including paediatric age groups
Conduct supportive supervision and mentoring to ensure adherence to the National guidelines; Monitor
ARVs and HIV Commodities to ensure that they are being used according to national guidelines
Participate in the development and review of comprehensive and pediatric HIV training packages;
Organize training of health care workers on pediatric HIV Care and Treatment;
Participate in the quantification/forecasting of drugs for management of HIV including Pediatric formulation and other related commodities
Develop an assessment tool to assist in evaluating performance of supply chain system.
Develop short and long-term government and donor- funded operational plans for improving supply chain management
Develop a feedback mechanism to ensure that approved stock status of ARVs including pediatric formulations reports are disseminated to lower levels of the health system and partners; ,
Visit health facilities regularly as part of supportive supervision and mentoring to ensure- that the ARVs and pediatric formulations are available
Ensure quality assurance is maintained throughout the distribution chain system
Develop measures for improvement of the system in provision of HIV care and treatment services and ensure availability of ARVs and other commodities in the health facilities.
Collect and maintain important data and records related to Pediatric HIV services in the health;
Prepare detailed progress reports on stock status of ARVs including pediatric formulation
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
B. Pharmacy with 3-5 years' experience in HIV care and treatment including Management of HIV
Commodities and supply chain system for HIV commodities, preferably with an MPH or equivalent
Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy and facilitation skills
Sensitivity to cultural differences & understanding of the political & ethical issues surrounding HIV & TB
Computer skills including, Microsoft Word and Excel
Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
