JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the position:
To mobilize the local stakeholders (children, parents, community members, civil council, relief council and religious leaders) for the different stages of Children in Emergency (CiE) project cycle, ensuring appropriate information is shared
To facilitate the strengthening of existing CBO structure for child protection functions (Community Based Child Protection Committee), and build their capacity in Child Protection
Major Responsibilities:
Community Mobilization for CiE Activities
- In coordination with the Response Manager, share appropriate information about the CiE activities with local stakeholders (children, parents, councils, religious leaders)
- Facilitate the meetings/ discussions with local stakeholders to have a better design and implementation of the CiE activities
- Identify the culturally appropriate way for local stakeholders (including children themselves) to provide regular feedback to WV
- Facilitate selection of gender sensitive safe adult volunteers responsible of daily CFS activities
Strengthen Child Protection capacity of existing Community Based Structures
- Identify existing community based structures which can take child protection responsibility
- Provide basic child protection trainings to community based groups
- Together with community based groups, identify the most significant risks in the community and mobilize other community members to take action
- Facilitate awareness raising activities, supporting the initiatives of community based groupsCoordinate and support CFS effective implementation
- Coordinate all CFS activities with team leaders/animators
- Provide ADMIN and logistic support to establishing activities in CFS
- Supervise CFS volunteers/animators CFS activities
- Provide training and ongoing coaching for CFS team leaders and animators
- Develop and promote mechanism for prevention of CP violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect
Outreach and case management of the most vulnerable children
- Identify the most vulnerable children cases, and keep record
- Establish referral system to appropriate services for direct assistance support of children and family
- Conduct home visits to follow-up the most vulnerable and sensitive cases
- Ensure the most vulnerable children are identified and access CFS activities
Meet internal and external reporting requirements and Representation of World Vision in the Cluster/Working Groups coordination
- Facilitate quality implementation of CFS activities
- Keep good record of community committee meetings and training (when, what is decided, where, how many participants, etc
- Record and report CP incidents appropriately
- Represent WV in the CP& Education WG in the assigned local area when necessary
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- Minimum Qualification required: Diploma in Social Science from accredited College/University majoring in Sociology, Community Development, Psychology, Social Work, Gender and Development & related field.
- Preferred: Degree /Advanced Diploma in Sociology, Community Development, Psychology Social Work, Gender and Development & related field.
- Experience: 1 - 2 years in community-based programmes or in local languages interpretation.
- Language Capability: Knowledge of Kirundi or closely related language is an added advantage.
