ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING
The Market Analysis and Research Section (MAR) has developed and is continuously evolving a set of market analysis tools including Trade map, and Market Access Map among others and also customizes these tools for specific regions to facilitate greater intra-regional trade and integration. These are made available to trade Support Institutions (TSIs) and the business community (particularly SMEs) as well as to research and consultancy organisations, free of charge for users from developing counties. In addition, MAR has developed methodologies for focused studies on such areas as export potential assessment, as well as analytical outputs and surveys on such areas as non-tariff measures. MAR also delivers capacity building services for beneficiaries in using its tools and analysis methodologies in support of strategic and operational trade related decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is designed to support market analysis tools related projects and capacity building related to trade related analysis. The expected outputs for this position are:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
EDUCATION: University degree in international economics or statistics and computing or a closely related field. Note: A candidate possessing an advanced degree in international economics or statistics and computing or a closely related field may be accepted with a total of only two years of professional experience in statistics, quantitative market research, international trade, preferably at the international level, as well as in the preparation of economic report and studies.
WORK EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years of professional experience in statistics, quantitative market research, international trade, preferably at the international level, as well as in the preparation of economic report and studies.
LANGUAGES: Advanced knowledge of English with a working knowledge of French or Spanish. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.

INDICATIVE ANNUAL SALARY AT THE P-2 LEVEL
Annual Salary (net of tax) Starting from 47,292US$, with annual increments subject to performance. Post Adjustment In addition to the above annual salary a monthly post adjustment is paid. The rate as at June 2015 is 93.4% of the monthly salary. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
