I-TECH Global Health Program Leader


The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a Center of the University of Washington’s Department of Global Health, in partnership with the University of California, San Francisco. I-TECH has offices in Africa, India and Haiti, and projects in more than twenty countries. I-TECH’s 700 worldwide staff work with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), medical facilities, and other partners to support the development of a skilled health work force and well-organized national health delivery systems. The Global Health Program Leader leads one or more multi-disciplinary teams in working directly with Country Directors, PIs and funders to effectively design, conduct and achieve global health program or project deliverables. The Global Health Program Leader assures program and project activities meet adopted I-TECH standards and applicable budgetary requirements. This position is located at our Seattle Headquarters offices, leading the Ethiopia program and supervising the Ethiopia HQ staff. Requirements:
Master’s degree in Public Health or related field with five years of technical global health experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of health systems strengthening in developing countries • Project planning and management skills • Supervisory skills and a track record of successfully fostering employee contribution and engagement • Ability to lead and facilitate cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary teams • Ability to authoritatively represent I-TECH with a wide range of officials and partners • Grant writing and grant management skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to work effectively across cultures
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires up to 30% travel. Will require participation in telephone calls during the early morning and late evening to accommodate the time zones of the various field offices.
