JBFC is seeking a dynamic, fun-loving individual who is passionate about children, social change and is eager to help change lives in Tanzania, East Africa. We operate a girls' home, school, healthcare clinic and farm in a rural village in Tanzania.
The Campus Director for the Kitongo campus is primarily responsible for all operations, happenings, and programmatic development on JBFC's flagship campus in Kitongo Village, Magu District, Mwanza Region. You will be managing a staff of more than 50 people on a campus that serves more than 300 day students, and up to 48 residential girls. This is a challenging, fast-paced environment that requires someone who can think on their feet, act quickly, and juggle a number of projects at once.
A Campus Director is responsible for working with the Kitongo Campus management team, which includes the property manager, head matron, registrar, and school headmaster, to lead the staff, students, and programs that are currently implemented on the campus. We are looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, who can help the campus run smoothly as well as look for new ways to develop and improve it. It is a strenuous and stressful task, with no day looking the same, but can be extremely fulfilling and rewarding. The Campus Director must be a flexible and patient person, frequently willing to put in overtime to ensure the campus is running to standards. Two-year contract required.
Primary Tasks Include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee all day-to-day operations on the Kitongo campus
- First-responder to Human Resource issues that arise within the staff on campus
- Responsible for hiring some laborers (cooks, housekeepers, etc) and consult with ED on other departmental hires.
- Maintain a mentoring relationship with JBFC's residential girls and students. Help diffuse confrontations between children and generally help nurture their development. Will also work with matrons to handle severe discipline issues for residential girls.
- Keep constant communication with the Executive Director
- Acting Country Director when Executive Director is absent
- Oversee campus and departmental budgets
- Oversee daily finances and cash box procedures
- Record and track all campus finances in QuickBooks online
- Purchasing and Inventory of supplies for all departments (oversee managers and shoppers)
- Lead the Kitongo Management Team- weekly meetings
- Create weekly progress reports for the Executive Director
- Coordinate with US-based staff to keep donors and supporters informed of activities on campus; participate in organizational fundraising
- Provide content for JBFC's website and social media outlets to help raise awareness about our mission
- Work with Executive Director to set campus and departmental goals
- Lead program development with Executive Director
- Reach out to potential donors and supporters to spread the word and gain support for the organization
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and Guest Coordinator to develop activities for guests visiting JBFC's campus. Represent the organization to those guests and ensure that they have an informed, meaningful visit.
- Oversee program implementation and make recommendations for improvement
- Coordinate with Executive Director and Registrar for all government communications (all government communications must be approved by central administration)
