Summer Analyst
EFL’s Mission:
Started as a research program at Harvard's Center for International Development, the Entrepreneurial Finance Lab is now a for-profit social enterprise that provides commercial banks, intergovernmental organizations and impact investors with technology that measures risk and potential among the un/under-banked. EFL has partnered with several leading financial institutions across the developing world, and has a proven ability to significantly reduce defaults and unlock access to finance for large portions of the SME market that would otherwise be stuck in the missing middle.
Your Mission:
The Entrepreneurial Finance Lab is seeking an entrepreneurial undergrad or recent graduate to join our team. The intern will gain exposure to a range of tasks undertaken by a fast-growing, high-impact, for-profit social enterprise that is disrupting the markets that provide entrepreneurs with access to finance worldwide. You will report directly to the Product Manager.
Examples of the types of projects that an intern will be assigned:
- Examining new business opportunities, for example, assessing new product opportunities, researching new platforms and additional features, designing and implementing product roadmaps.
- Collecting and aggregating client feedback on products and coordinate roll-out of new releases to improve user experience.
- Designing and creating prototypes and present findings to team.
- Analyze large quantities of data across countries and regions to identify trends.
- Create marketing collateral to explain EFL’s complex products to new stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Rising seniors or recent graduates with under three years of work experience preferred.
- Strong business analytic, marketing and presentation skills.
- Can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial nature.
- Experience in analyzing product requirements, anticipating questions, trouble-shooting during meetings, and adapting to any work environment.
- Strong business acumen, including understanding of different investment styles and strategies, financial markets and risk management.
- Experience in emerging markets and knowledge of foreign languages is a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and internet research is a must.
Compensation Details/Other Benefits:
Interning with EFL provides significant exposure to the world of entrepreneurship, emerging market finance and for-profit social enterprise. While EFL internships are typically unpaid, we may be able to provide a small stipend for college students and recent graduates. Furthermore, though EFL cannot promise full time employment, we are eager to look to those who have spent time interning with EFL if and when new, full time opportunities emerge.
