CHAMPION Project (Channeling Men’s Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response) Project which seeks to increase positive male involvement in HIV and reproductive health, is funded by USAID and led by EngenderHealth. The project is implemented in ten regions throughout Tanzania, with the main office located in Dar es Salaam. CHAMPION invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill in the temporary position for Associate Program Officer, Workplace based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This position is open to Tanzania nationals only.
Scope of Position:
The Associate Program Officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer to support the implementation of workplace HIV Initiative program under the Millennium Challenge Cooperation.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of workplace and community action teams and develop roll-out plans for workplace and community outreach activities
- Assist in the creation/strengthening of linkages with other community resources (health facility/providers and local organizations) to promote VCT and condom use, and the provision of other preventive services.
- Assist in designing and implementation of culturally sensitive and relevant community mobilization and outreach activities in areas surrounding MCC/MCA-T project sites
- Assist on designing, review and development of community outreach training materials for MCC/MCA-T HIV awareness and prevention program
- Assist to organize project events; i.e. road shows, community health fair, outreach activities etc
- Document project success stories for internal and external use
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree in a related field or equivalent experience in public health and behavior change communication
- Interest on gender, reproductive health and/or HIV/AIDS-related projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior change communication, health promotion and capacity building programs and experience working direct with the community is desirable
- A personal and professional commitment to gender equality
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills particularly related to information systems, data analysis and reporting, including Microsoft-Word, Excel, Access and SPSS
- Ability to travel upcountry up to 30% of time.
