Chief Executive Officer, Letshego Mozambique


Letshego is a consumer lending business with eleven subsidiaries across Africa. It was established in 1998. Letshego has evolved from being just a consumer lending entity to a fully fledged financial services company. It has introduced innovative products and services which include legal insurance, funeral insurance, and personal development loans.
About the Job: 
Letshego is looking for a Chief Executive Officer. S/he will be responsible for implementing the philosophy, mission, strategic goals, and objectives of the organization. His/her role will also encompass governance function, providing direction, and leadership toward the achievement of agreed financial targets.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Initiating and formation of strategic plans to achieve objectives;
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate organizational structures, functions, and processes to achieve objectives;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to implement and maintain business processes/objectives;
  • Assess recommended policies and present to EXCO;
  • Analyze legislation and business environments in which the company operates;
  • Enterprise risk management;
  • Manage and monitor the objectives of the strategic plan and budgets;
  • Responsible for results of audit and take corrective action;
  • Approval of loans, collection, arrears, and bad debt management;
  • Produce and implement sales, advertising, and marketing plan;
  • Competitor and market analysis;
  • Implement strategies to achieve assets and market share, analysis of product mix and launch of new products;
  • Identification of new markets/opportunities;
  • Distribution Channels and Letshego brand promotion;
  • Managing client relationships and strategic stakeholder relationships;
  • Recruitment, retention, and motivation strategies;
  • Development of staff and their performance management;
  • Compensation and benefit management of staff;
  • Mentorship, coaching, training of staff.
Qualifications: 
  • Should be innovative;
  • Should have ability to solve problems;
  • Relevant experience and leadership skills;
  • Should be influential as s/he will be dealing with internal and external stakeholders (clients, treasury at Central Bank, government departments, financial institutions,investment centers, suppliers, attorneys, auditors etc.);
  • Must have banking experience;
  • Candidate must speak Portuguese.
