FHI 360’s Civil Society and Peacebuilding Department (CSPD) supports
citizens to mobilize effectively to influence policy, improve lives, and
build peace. CSPD works with civil society and governments to increase
credibility, visibility and effectiveness by building capacity to:
•Advocate for social justice, economic reforms, fiscal transparency,
gender equity and the prevention of human rights abuses such as human
trafficking and violence against women;
•Promote peaceful solutions to conflict, support peace negotiations,
produce radio and television programs to promote social dialogue and
tolerance;
•Solve community problems, engage youth in civic affairs and provide
needed services to citizens;
•Develop diversified revenue streams and cooperate with business and
media sectors; and
•Increase national and local governments' responsiveness to citizens.
Position Description:
CSPD is currently seeking a Project Manager I for an anticipated Peace and Development program in Ethiopia which will aim to increase resiliency to conflict, focusing on conflict management and governance dynamics of natural resource management, livelihoods, and climate resilience. The Project Manager, under the direction of the Chief of Party, will lead the design and implementation of activities to improve the enabling environment for sustainable development in Ethiopia. S/he will design and implement training and technical assistance to the Government of Ethiopia structures for conflict reduction and management and peacebuilding in order to increase their resiliency, effectiveness, and legitimacy.
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in public affairs, political science, economics, development, education/training, or a related field; Master’s preferred; •Minimum 5-8 years experience providing training and/or technical assistance to government institutions, civil society organizations (CSOs), and/or community institutions, preferably with a focus on peacebuilding, collaborative governance, organizational/institutional capacity building; and/or mitigating conflict related to natural resource management, livelihoods, and climate change; •Minimum 5 years experience implementing and managing multiple, simultaneous development activities and several staff members under a large, donor-funded project; •Extensive experience as a Trainer/Facilitator using participatory approaches; •Experience developing professional training materials a plus; •Experience working on US government-funded projects with sub-grants components strongly preferred; and •Proficiency in English and fluency in Amharic required.
