Administration and Projects Manager for MasAgro

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), is seeking a dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of Administration and Projects Manager for the MasAgro Program. The position will be based at CIMMYT’s Main Campus (located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico) but will interact with all CIMMYT´s experimental stations and regional office (country and world-wide) on a regular basis.

The MasAgro Program (Spanish acronym for the Program for Sustainable Modernization of Traditional Agriculture), is conducted by CIMMYT with the support and financing of the Mexican Government. Its purpose is to sustainably increase yields of maize and wheat productive systems in Mexico, through the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices and the use of enhanced scientific tools for seed improvement.

Successful candidates will have a close relation with the Legal and Coordination and Scientific Liaison Offices of MasAgro, and will seek new collaborations within the program. (S)he will also be responsible for administrative processes of the program before the Mexican Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (SAGARPA) in terms of reporting, monitoring, etc.

Specific responsibilities of this position will include:

• Conduct the development and strategic planning of the program.
• Define planning, procedures, execution, monitoring, control and closing stages of various projects.
• Provide administrative and financial follow up of the program and its progress.
• Design, follow up and assess KPIs of the program and its impact.
• Prepare and submit reports related to the program and all its related projects.
• Design and implement improvements to the work processes related to all projects.
• Other duties as directed by supervisor.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:

• BA/BS in Business Administration or similar areas. MBAs will be an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Management. PMP Certification will be an advantage.
• Excellent bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
• Work experience in management of government-related and research projects desirable.
• Work experience in managing simultaneous projects, often in geographically distant locations.
• Excellent interpersonal relations and ability to work in a multinational environment and with regular interaction with public and private organizations.
• Ability to work independently, in a results-orientated workplace and often during workload and time pressure.
• Analytical skills and ability to summarize large amounts of information required.
• Excellent computer skills, including in MS Office software, Project and Visio. Advanced Excel skills are required.
• In case of non-Mexican nationals, a valid work / residence permit and evidences of Spanish skills are required.
