The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the post of CHIEF OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT UNIT.

Job Title: CHIEF OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT UNIT

Supervisor: Head of Facilities Management Division
Directorate: Administration and Human Resources Development
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Facilities Management Division the
Officer shall be in charge of :
‐ Overall responsibility for the quality management of the facilities
‐ Management of the staff of the Unit
‐ Development, preparation and management of plans for the utilization of AUC proprieties
‐ Develops standards for the management including Commercial use of the AUC proprieties and assets
‐ Promotion and marketing of the facilities for use by outside clients
‐ Prepares and manages the budget of the Unit
‐ Prepares the financial plan of the Unit and manage the resource allocated to the
Unit
‐ Overseesthe leasing and renting of space and proprieties

‐ Ensures the effective enforcement and implementation of all contracts related to the management of proprieties and assets
‐ Ensures collaboration and coordination with all relevant Departments and
Services of the Commission
‐ Ensures the maintenance of good relations with clients
‐ Ensures that the financial and other resources of the facilities are efficiently managed and safeguarded
‐ Ensures that all services of the Conference facilities are to international standards including food and beverages, events, functions and meetings
‐ Ensures the continuous improvement of the services delivery of the proprieties
‐ Verifies that all contracts and agreements comply with the AUC policies and procedures
‐ Oversees the coordination of the program and the management of the calendar of events of Centers
‐ Plans , organizes and manages the training and upgrading of skills of all staff of the Unit
‐ Cooperates with other similar organizations to develop benchmarks for the Unit
‐ Anticipates, identify and resolve problems in collaboration with all Unit Staff
‐ Preparation of reports on the Activities of the Center to the management
4. Qualifications and Experience Required:
Candidate must have minimum an Advanced University Degree in Management, Business, Marketingor Administration
4. Professional experience required:
At least Seven (7) years of relevant experience in the management of facilities. Relevant experience in Business and Services management and promotions of services.
5. Other Relevant Skills:
‐ Excellent program, plan development, management execution, monitoring and evaluation
‐ Excellent interpersonal skills
‐ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
‐ Excellent time management skills
‐ Ability to work in a multicultural environment and meet the needs of a multicultural clientele.
‐ Negotiation skills
6. Language Requirement:

Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Proficiency of one or several other working language(s) would be an added advantage
7. Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 30 and 45 years old.
8. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months be consider as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

10. Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary US$33,619.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. post adjustment (46% of basic salary), housing allowance (US$14,414.40 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
