Job Description:
This position will include but not be limited to research in the following areas : Acute haemorrhagic fevers: epidemiology, surveillance and control. Rabies: diagnosis, management and vaccine evaluation. ARI: epidemiology, diagnosis, aetiology, management and control.
Viral diarrhoea: studies on aetiology, epidemiology, management and control; vaccine trials and molecular characterisation.
Viral hepatitis: epidemiology, aetiology, diagnosis and control. KEPI: vaccine potency evaluation; polio eradication. HIV and AIDS: Epidemiology, Phenotypic and Genotypic characterization, Prevention and Control, Drug resistance surveillance, QA/QC in HIV programs, Window period and transfusion safety studies, HIV Diagnostic services: Viral Load, EID, PCR, Operational Research in HIV/AIDS and Training.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the conduct of ongoing research the above mentioned fields.
Development of research projects/ grants in the same fields.
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and Competencies
Degree a relevant discipline with sub specialization as may be appropriate.
Masters in Public Health or Epidemiology or a research related Masters (PhD would be an added advantage).
Knowledge and demonstrable skills in a wide range of research and/or laboratory science.
Training in Good clinical practice (GCP)/ or GCLP.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Competency in MS office.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
Must be a team player.
