The South Sudan NGO Secretariat coordinates the efforts of the NGO Steering Committee as voted representatives of the South Sudan NGO Forum, which currently includes over 130 international member agencies and 80 national member agencies. The NGO Secretariat exists for the purpose of: coordination, information sharing, advocacy, policy/position paper production, government/donor/UN engagement and engagement on other vital issues regarding humanitarian relief, recovery and development.
With substantial experience of working with UN, NGOs and/or Donor agencies and strong leadership, management and coordination skills the post holder will be responsible for supporting the work of the NGO Forum on issues related to the coordination of NGOs at the state level in South Sudan. They will also be required to map coordination mechanisms already in place in all ten states of South Sudan, working with the NGO Secretariat Security Focal Point to develop state level security information sharing mechanisms, and facilitate State NGO Coordination meetings.
Applicants should have management experience at both state/area and country level with an understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts. Proven communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this role. Previous experience of working in Sudan would also be an advantage.
