Senior Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager

Take a front seat role in the family planning and reproductive health revolution in Uganda. Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) is the largest and fasting growing organization of its type in the country, preparing for a period of rapid expansion with support from the UK and US governments. We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. We are looking for a proactive, deadline-orientated, Senior Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager (SRM&E Manager), to join our Senior Management Team, which provides strategic support and leadership to its 275 team members. You will manage a team of four RM&E professionals, coordinating the following aspect of its work:
• Monitoring and evaluation of its large donor grants
• Data quality and management information systems
• Research, including several large, groundbreaking research projects
• Innovation and best practice

You will be a senior, highly competent person with excellent management and communication skills and a strategic perspective. You will be a self-starter, having managed teams in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced business environment.

MSU is a marketing focused, results oriented social enterprise. We develop efficient, effective and sustainable family planning and reproductive health programmes in Uganda. MSU has 25% of the market share in modern contraceptives, delivering 35,000 babies every year, and contributing 4 points to Uganda’s CPR in 2010.

The primary responsibility of this role is to further MSU’s mission of ensuring the individual’s right to CHILDREN BY CHOICE NOT CHANCE

Qualifications and Skills
• Advanced degree in public health or related discipline
• Significant experience managing a small team and resources
• Experience of Monitoring & Evaluation of large and complex donor projects, preferably with sizeable USAID funded projects
• Proven excellent technical oral, written, and editing abilities; ability to present and write for multiple audiences
• Quantitative and qualitative research skills (preferably including SPSS and STATA knowledge)
• A team player, able to work in deadline driven/results orientated atmospheres
• Strong people management skills
• Strategic guidance and planning
• Motivated personally and professionally to develop; willingness to travel as requested
