The Fiji Health Sector Support Program (FHSSP) is an Australian Government, AusAID Initiative, providing support to the Ministry of Health to deliver essential health services to the ordinary people of Fiji. The FHSSP supports activities that will contribute to improving health outcomes in maternal and child health, strengthening diabetes prevention and management, and revitalising primary health care.
JTA International is currently seeking an experienced, culturally sensitive and motivated individual for the role of Adviser for Planning & Monitoring for the FHSSP. This position will be responsible for the provision of support to the Policy, Planning and Analysis Division of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to strengthen planning and monitoring capacity across all levels of the health system. Key activities will include: identifying core indicators for the MoH to report on against MDG goals, FHSSP objectives and the MoH Strategic Plan and Annual Corporate Plans; strengthening systems and capacity to ensure essential data collection, collation and analysis; systems development to inform the daily management of activities; development of an M&E framework; and involvement in the development and monitoring of strategic, annual, corporate and business plans for the MoH and FHSSP.
The successful applicant will have:
• A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience working with/in partner government systems in a developing country context to build capacity and strengthen systems around monitoring and planning.
• Demonstrated experience in the development of M&E frameworks in a health environment, the development of health policies and strategic planning in a developing country, facilitating complex stakeholder engagement and working in a team based environment contributing to the achievement of plans and frameworks.
• Post graduate qualifications in epidemiology, public health, international development, M&E or a related discipline.
• High level interpersonal skills with the demonstrated capacity to build positive relationships.
• Prior experience working in the Pacific context.
