Provision of Advisory Services to ABC Holdings in Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia

Objective of the project: To provide advisory services to Banc ABC Holdings in Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia in order to increase MSME’s access to financial services. The program focuses on lending and non-lending products, services and supporting functions. These functions can include MIS, credit/risk management, Product development, Human Resource development, review and redesign of SME Banking policies, processes and procedures.

Length of the project: 30 months

Start Date: Q3 2011

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary Senior Resident Advisor (RA) for this project will be based in Mozambique. S/he will assume a coordinating role for the activities of the other RAs. S/he will:-
• Engage in day-to-day interaction with the bank and support implementation of the project;
• assume in-country oversight responsibility for all components of the project including performance monitoring and IFC reporting;
• manage day-to-day in-country activities and supervise and co-ordinate the work of other consultants and RA’s in Botswana, and Zambia to ensure project deliverables are delivered on time and to specification.
• Ensure that the activities of the other RAs in the other countries are well coordinated during implementation.


Basic Qualifications:
Requirements: Applicants must have 10+ years senior management experience in commercial banking, experience in MSME lending, practical experience in African markets and fluency in Portuguese and English.

Key Skills: The Primary RA must have a good understanding and experience with both SME banking and Microfinance within the commercial banking sector. Experience must include international experience and previous implementation of similar projects in African markets. Applicants should have solid leadership and management skills. Other competencies in African languages would be viewed favourably.

Education: Degree or certificate in banking, finance, economics or other related field. An advanced degree would be beneficial.
