Reports to: Country Director
Purpose of Job: To support the scale up Plan South Sudan's (PSS) impact through communication and marketing. The incumbent supports the development of proactive and effective communications. The incumbent drafts website updates, news releases, newsletters, brochures and other written materials. The incumbent assists in the promotion of the organization's brand identity and public image.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Implement the Plan South Sudan communication strategy;
- Actively participate in the planning and organization of meetings, events, workshops and other media events or visits to enhance their visibility and maximize their impact;
- Develop creative communication tools for Plan South Sudan targeting both domestic and global audiences as well as materials for internal communication usage;
- Ensure Plan South Sudan's branding is a consistent and aligned with that of Plan International;
- Develop proactive and reactive media communications, including drafting press releases, opinion pieces, press kits and overseeing their distribution to the target groups;
- Maintain and expand on the photo, video and case studies database including working with freelance videographers and photographers while following Plan's child protection guidelines;
- Maintain and update the database of journalists, media outlets and press coverage;
- Draft and distribute the monthly internal newsletter;
- Manage timely updates to the website and various social media sites with multi media content;
- Manage development of situation reports and communications responses during disaster and emergency situation s; and
- Develop a and implement a consistent strategy for media engagement in Plan South Sudan activities
- Lead, promote and manage PSS and Global campaigns
- Manage a working relationship with communication officers network
- Contribute to the development of PSS image-design on publications, website, etc
- Work with staff from Plan's regional, international and other country offices on joint communications projects and international campaigns.
Skills and Qualifications
- BA Degree in Communications, Public Relations , Journalism, or related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in a communications or media post;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills;
- Ability to express ideas clearly and communicate information effectively;
- Proven writing skills and professional communications in English;
- Basic graphic design, photo/video editing and production skills;
- Experience in designing and producing publications, working with designers and printers
- Experience in internet communication, social networks and website management;
- Computer Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power point.
- Willingness to travel to rural and remote parts of South Sudan
