Emergency Response Coordinator -Tulawaka Gold Mine

Interact with the entire Mine site, to ensure sustained development of a Safe and Healthy Work Environment to ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with Barrick policies, especially in the cultural, safety and environmental context & all project consent & legislative requirements.

Reports to: OHS and Training Coordinator

Work Schedule: Rotation Status (6 weeks on/ 3 weeks off)

Key result areas / essential functions

· Maintain Emergency Response Plan of the site, reviewing and updating it accordingly

· Maintain the ER Team in terms of training and preparedness and schedule annual training

· Monitor the Emergency Response equipment

· Provide Crash rescue service at aerodrome

· Work with line managers to see emergence facilities are in sound condition

· Conduct monthly report of emergency facility status

· Ensure the daily availability ER personnel for UG and Surface operations

· Ensure ER legislation compliance as per Mining Act 2010 Regulations Part IV

· Ensure the Site ER services are conforming to Element 8 of Barrick Safety and Health Management Systems

· Schedule and implement incident simulations

· Work closely with other ABG Mines ER Coordinators under Mutual Agreement resolutions

· Seek for further training and exposure of the ER team

· Train all supervisors on basic ER procedures in high potential areas

· Consolidate key competencies of the teams like, closed and open circuit apparatus, rope rescue, First Aid and fire fighting, vehicle extrication etc

· Maintain Mine Rescue Data Base

· Play the role the sole site advisor on emergency related issues

· Maintain ER Section at minimum requirements of Barrick Safety and Health Management System

Qualifications required

The ideal candidate should have;-

· Minimum of a Certificate of Secondary Education

· Certificate/ Diploma in Emergency Management from a recognized training institution

· Relevant training certification to deliver and present training courses

· Certified in Open and Closed circuit breathing apparatus is essential

· Certified in Mines Rescue Trainer

· User of MS-Office

· A valid Tanzanian Class E or C driving license

· Safety and health experience

· Be ready to take more and current training related to the job

· Comprehension of Barrick Safety and Health Management Systems

Skills and Experience Required

Previous proto experience as captain/vice will be advantageous. Experience at Proto coordinator level with advanced certificate will be advantageous

· Adequate experience in underground emergency rescue operations minimum of 3 years

· Comprehension of underground operations and safety is necessary

· Well experienced in resolving issues relating to emergency response activities and the development of action plans

· Solid experience in facilitating training of closed circuit breathing apparatus ( BG4), Open circuit breathing apparatus(BA), operation of fire tender, vetter bags, vehicle extrication, rope rescue, hazmat etc

· Demonstrate team leadership
