2 - Major duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the employee oldest of economic policies, trade and marketing, will be the specialist economy (in the field of livestock) to provide technical advice, and the development and preparation of reports / releases annual / periodic office the African common on the resources of livestock; and as a member or a leading multi-disciplinary teams, to participate in preparation of drafting, implementation, monitoring and evaluating projects and programs related to livestock. - The formulation of draft proposals and seek funding for the field of trade-related and marketing of the resources of livestock and animal products;
- Develop a system for efficient exchange of economic information, and between commercial and marketing, and through, the Member States of the African Union and regional economic communities;
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data and information on the economics of animal resources, trade and marketing of the Member States of the African Union;
- Preparing, reviewing and revising sections of our newsletter planned annual "state of livestock in Africa" and related documents;
- The formulation, conduct and integration of analytical studies, and evaluate issues and trends in the development of animal resources of African with a recommendation to a particular goal of the policies and strategies for the development of animal production, marketing and support services in Africa, as well as promoting intra-regional trade in livestock;
- The preparation of policy papers and technical reports on issues of sustainable development of livestock in Africa;
- Analysis of livestock production systems, and formulation of development options of access to livelihoods; and assess their potential impact and adoption;
- Provide technical assistance to Member States, regional economic communities, and partners in development, design evaluation of implementation support in the areas of Animal Resources Development with a particular focus on trade in livestock and marketing in the context of the strategic objectives of the Office of the African common on the resources of livestock;
- Establish and maintain contacts with other departments of the African Union, and agencies of the national planning and coordination (NPCA), and international organizations, including public and private sectors and NGOs to promote cooperation and exchange of information;
- Preparation, and assistance, counseling, and participation, as required, in formulating and monitoring development projects in the emergency / support national strategies for livestock development and the provision of technical support;
- Carry out joint missions on the African Bureau of Livestock resources to provide technical support for projects of livestock in emergency situations and support regional / national staff in the implementation of projects and programs in the livestock sector;
- Planning and organization of workshops and joint representation of the African Bureau on Animal Resources resources on issues related to trade in livestock and livestock development in Africa;
- Participation in the monitoring and evaluation practices and regular reports of the Office on the common African livestock resources, and contribute to the preparation of the annual work program of the Office of the common African resources on livestock;
- Provide technical support to the various strategic programs of the Office of the common African resources on livestock;
- Provide support in other areas of work of the Office of the African common on livestock resources, and do any other activities, may be required by the Director.
3 - Education:
Candidates must be holders of a bachelor's degree in economics or agricultural economics. And obtain a master's degree is an added advantage.
4 - Work experience:
Must have candidates (8) eight years of professional experience, at least in the field of livestock development, including experience in project design, operation and monitoring, with experience, at least for a period of (4) years in the field of international action.
5 - Other relevant skills:
- Professionalism: Proven expertise in the field of animal production science, and policy formulation related to animal production and sustainable development; and demonstrate good technical knowledge and to demonstrate analytical skills on issues related to animal production and sustainable development;
- Planning and Organizing: Proven ability to plan and organize work within the framework of the project; and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner;
- Communication: He has the skills to effectively clear writing styles, especially the ability to present information in a concise and accurate manner; and the ability to find consensus among people with varying points of view;
- Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries; and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships run with people of different national and cultural backgrounds with respect for diversity;
- Judgment / Decision-Making: Good judgment and initiative, creativity and resourcefulness, and energy and tact, and the ability to ensure an effective work structure to maximize productivity and achieve organizational goals;

6 - language requirements:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the African Union. Knowledge of one or many of the other working languages would be an added advantage.
7 - Age requirement: Candidates should be ages ranging between 35 and 45 years.
8 - One of Appointment: The appointment will be for a fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, and will be the first twelve months as a probationary period. After that, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.
