Organizational Setting and Reporting
This internship is located in the Information Technology Section, Production and Support Service, Division of Conference Management, Geneva. This internship is not paid and full-time (five days per week).
This internship is proposed from 1 July 2016 until 30 September 2016 with a possibility of extension up to maximum six months.
Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Information Technology Section and under the daily guidance of the Chief of the Client Solutions Unit, the incumbent will
- Participate in preparing user requirements and other technical specifications.
- Assist in the design, development and installation of information systems.
- Assist in the analysis of well-defined modules within the system, develop enhancements and new features to existing systems; may design and implement systems as needed.
- Contribute in rigorous testing and proving of applications software.
- Help in maintaining assigned portions of systems, providing operational support for system's applications, analyzing and implementing system changes/upgrades, etc.
- Ensure data security and integrity.
- Prepare, update and maintain system's documentation and related technical/procedural manuals.
- Assist in procurements, including conducting needs assessments and benchmarks, preparing technical specifications and evaluation criteria.
- Assist in the set-up and monitoring of software performance measures.
- Draft training materials and conducts training sessions and demonstrations of systems for users.
- Participate with senior staff in assessing and testing new technology.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
