The National Museum of Tanzania (NMT) is a body corporate established by the Act of Parliament No 7 of 1980. It is an educational, scientific and cultural institution charged with the duties of collecting, conserving, displaying and researching on all materials relating to Tanzania's cultural and natural heritage. NMT is inviting applications from dynamic, dedicated, self- motivated, energetic and proactive Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions:
CURATOR OF HISTORY II -1 POST
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manages museum collections
Documentation and cataloguing acquisitions and keeping records
Curation and conservation of collections
Carrying out background research and writing catalogues;
Participates in museum related researches
Collaborating with other museum departments, such as education, research, fund raising, marketing and conservation .
Supports exhibitions development, organization and display
Handling enquiries from researchers and the public
Liaise with conservators and curatorial Assistants in ensuring and enhancing the conservation of heritage materials and objects
Networking with other museum and art gallery professionals.
Prepares monthly reports related to management, conservation and curation of museum collections
Writes Project Proposals .
Performs any other related duties may be assigned by superior
Entry Qualifications:
SA degree in Museum Studies or in related Social (Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, History, Anthropology) Sciences with a minimum of Second Upper Class degree.
MA is an added advantage
Age Limit: Not more than 40 years for those who are not in Public Service
Salary Scale: PRSS 1.1
