PLANNING SUPERINTENDENT
Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager we seek to appoint a Planning Superintendent at our Bulyanhulu gold mining operation. The objective of this position is to set up a structure for the planning department to support the planning needs of the Bulyanhulu Maintenance & Engineering department.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Design of the planned maintenance system to meet the requirements of the planned maintenance strategy for all engineering departments & equipment.
• Set up planning systems and standards to meet the requirements of the planned maintenance strategy.
• Development and management of plans to progress the implementation of improved planning systems.
• Ensure the integrity of the planned maintenance CMMS system – Pronto, and maintenance of the system to ensure quick and correct capture of work.
• Prepare long term, medium (4 – 12 week), and 1 – 4 week work plans in consultation with Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, FLM (front line managers), and other customers on request.
• Ensure maintenance work order planning details are complied with:
• Work specifications
• Safety notes
• Resources required (labour, materials, equipment, specialised tools)
• Preliminary scheduled start
• Cost centre verification
• Check material availability
• Conduct week 1 – 4 resource loading to ensure the effective utilisation of available manpower and labour capacity planning to ensure the timely identification of labour needs.
• Conduct the weekly Production / Maintenance scheduling meeting to establish joint ownership, approval and commitment to the proposed work list for the next week and review prescheduled work for weeks 2 – 4.
• Responsible to ensure good and regular liaison with parties:
• Liaise with stores to continually establish materials and spares leveling strategies;
• suppliers to ensure the availability of parts and components:
• contractors, as required, to obtain competitive prices for any external services and provide scopes of work for such services in line with ABG policy.
• Maintain the integrity of the Maintenance Module of the Pronto system, ensure the master data including equipment register and equipment details are up to date.
• Establish a library of standard work packages for recurring work which includes BOMs and task lists.
• Audit plant information from technical manuals, drawings and directly from components.
• Audit Work Order completion information.
• Establish, monitor and report maintenance planning KPI including:
• Planned verse actual job time estimates
• Backlog
• Breakdown, planned routine maintenance and non-routine maintenance ratios
• Planned maintenance scheduled compliance
• Planning lead time
• Assist with the preparation of the annual maintenance budget.
• Compile detailed shutdown work packages for shutdowns with a duration of eight (8) hours or more.
• Maintain the technical library and drawing register.
• Ensure a skills development program is in place for the planning section and sufficient talent is being developed to cover leave rotate requirements.
• In a consultative approach, develop maintenance planning techniques, practical tools, processes and training aids which align to organizational business processes.
• Manage the capital document for the engineering department, and in consultation with the engineering sections, to ensure capital conforms to the mines quality standard.
• Coordinate centralised information for the engineering department, e.g. labour, as required.
• Be vigilant of company assets, monitor, report and action through the appropriate procedures, activities resulting in the loss, misuse or misappropriation of company assets.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Trade Certificate
• Post trade studies in maintenance planning, AQF IV Management Competency
• Relevant courses / certificates in planned maintenance
Experience Requirements:
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Proven knowledge of mineral processing and mining equipment
• Microsoft Word Suite of Products – Word, Project, Excel & Access
• Computerised Maintenance management Systems – Ellipse, Pronto MIMS
• Train the Trainer
• Ability to manage, motivate and lead the team.
• Ability to train and pass on knowledge
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work safely
• Excellent analytical skills
