Basic Function:
The DRC Project Manager, will assist in managing the implementation of Invisible Children’s protection projects in the LRA affected regions of DR Congo, with an emphasis on improving and expanding the Early Warning Radio Network, establishing new FM community radios and identifying new projects to protect communities and limit the LRA’s capacity to commit violent acts.
Operational Tasks/ Responsibilities:
· Manage project staff and work with the DRC Head of Office to build program staff capacity and skills · Improve the effectiveness of the Early Warning Radio Network and expand the system into strategic locations in Haut and Bas Uele o Work with program staff and local partners to identify additional locations to expand the DRC Early Warning Radio Network and increase the overall effectiveness o Build project plans alongside program staff to train Local Protection Committees and Radio Operators to improve their capacity for information reporting o Build tools alongside communities to improve community protection utilizing Early Warning Radio information o Refine and manage the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness of the project and to identify areas of improvement · Manage the daily reporting and distribution of information from the Early Warning Radio Network to the LRA Crisis Tracker and Invisible Children’s professional network · Support the regional expansion of FM community radios o Assist FM Project Officer in building the capacity of existing community-run FM radios through trainings and hardware improvements o Identify new FM projects and establish local partnerships in strategic locations, in line with fiscal year budget and program plan · Manage relationships with and accountability from local implementing partners and contractors · Assist in the logistical coordination of persons and equipment to support Invisible Children projects in the region · Create and disseminate monthly program reports · Attend relevant coordination meetings organized by the UN and NGOs
Qualifications:
· 3+ years experience in a field-based post; experience in central Africa and/or sub-Saharan Africa in conflict or post-conflict environments preferred · Prior experience working on LRA issues preferred · Degree in related field · Experience managing projects, budgets and support staff · Experience in DDR or protection issues preferred · Fluency in French and English
Requirements:
· International driving permit and ability to drive a manual vehicle and motorcycle · Frequent travel to remote regions
