Your role as Clinical Research Pharmacist will be to execute all pharmacy related duties to the highest standards timeously and professionally and to practice within applicable legislation ensuring compliance with and adherence to Good Clinical Practice, Good Pharmacy Practice, applicable guidelines, regulations and sponsor requirements.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and maintaining materials for allocated study protocols and product management, compounding and dispensing investigational products, study randomisation, counselling study participants on use and adherence of investigational products, performing and documenting drug accountability and accurate compliance monitoring, overseeing pharmacists assistants, liaising with sponsor representatives, principle investigators, project managers, other study team members, monitors and regulatory bodies.
The successful candidate will carry out study-related duties by ensuring sufficient investigational product is ordered and storage requirements met, maintaining inventory records, dispensing records, shipping records, managing product returns and destruction appropriately according to specific sponsor/study requirements. Responsibilities include development and review of all study-specific and general Standard Operating Procedures and plans, training of all staff on protocols and maintenance of training records, attendence at meetings with sponsors, principal investigator, study personnel, monitors and auditors. Occasional local/international travel may be required.
Additional duties will include aligning with departmental goals or projects, being on standby and reporting on temperature monitoring and alarm system, maintaining knowledge by participation in continuing education programmes and general pharmacy duties.
All candidates must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or higher and be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council. Previous clinical trial experience would be advantageous. Candidates should have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as have a high level of effective time management skills, must display high attention to detail and possess excellent communication skills.
