Budget and Forecasting:
• Control, co-ordinate and consolidate the planning, budgeting and forecasting for Standard Bank Africa;
• Timeous and quality reporting of plans, budgets and forecasts to business;
• Successful intergration and training of SAP Africa Finance applications for business and country.
Financial and Management Reporting:
• Manage and produce accurate and useful financial information;
• Reporting of financial results to Group Finance and business owners within set timelines;
• Preparation of commentaries on the Africa results by country, including investigation into inconsistent and/or major variances;
• Preparation of reports on product profitability by country and by segment;
• Assist with the design, credibility and utilisation of the finance systems in close co-operation with Special Projects teams (BPC, PCM);
• Prepare analysis schedules/reports and provide input to Global Exco;
• Interpret and effectively communicate quality information through information analysis.
Risk Reporting: Financial control and operating controls
• Identify financial control and operating risks through internal and external audit reports and continuous interaction with auditors,
• Interaction with Compliance and Risk departments and country staff to resolve and/or minimise risks.
Key responsibilities
Budget and Forecasting:
• Support the in country finance teams in creating a finance partnership with business;
• Manage the annual planning process for a three year financial plan in line with strategic targets;
• To produce a budgeting and forecasting management information pack;
• Manage the quarterly forecasting process for assembly of accurate revised estimates;
• Assist with the development and management of rolling forecasts;
• Timeous and quality reporting of plans, budgets and forecasts (Financial Analysis together with Presentations);
• Perform detailed review and analysis of the country numbers to confirm the integrity and reliance of reported results of plans, budgets, forecast;
• Facilitate the design and implementation of improved planning budgeting and forecasting systems integrated with reporting systems;
• Ensure financial disciplines are in place in JHB and in countries in respect of planning, budgeting and forecasting;
• Maintain adherence to Group policies and guidelines in respect of planning, budgeting and forecasting;
• Run the consolidation process of the annual planning cycles;
• Document the budget and RE process (process mapping);
• Detailed planning of the budgeting, revised estimates and forecasting processes;
• Provide support to countries and business partners during the planning processes;
• Provide ad-hoc business support.
Financial and Management Reporting:
• Analyse financial results in terms of the business drivers and provide value added comments, suggestions and recommendations to business partners;
• Monitor and drive the critical performance ratios, e.g. cost-to-income and ROE;
• Ensure awareness of market trends and anticipate the impact thereof on business performance;
• Understand the business information needs of Africa products and segment business units and align this with country management information needs;
• Drive other initiatives such as product and customer costing by segment;
• Provide support and monitor key business and financial ratios for all countries;
• Establish and maintain good relations with countries and stay abreast of the country’s market trends and business news;
• Compile and keep up to date a country analysis for the relevant countries (in terms of macro-economic factors, business strategy, customers, products and performance);
• Understand business information requirements in the countries and to assist with developing ways of delivering these information needs through technology solutions;
• Ensure that all information is stored on the server in the prescribed manner;
• Ensure that processes are mapped and that procedures are documented in departmental procedure manuals to ensure continuity when staff members leave / join the team;
• In addition to attending formal training courses, take ownership for self-development and stay abreast of market trends and business news;
• Provide ad-hoc business support to the product and segment teams.
Risk Reporting: Financial control and operating controls
• Analyse financial and operating risks and controls in terms of severity.
• Monitor and drive the resolution of the risks through monthly reporting
• Regular meetings with the Standard Bank (Africa) Compliance team and Risk teams.
• Provide support to country staff to resolve.
• Quarterly reporting of risks to Africa and Group Executive committee.
Key performance measures
• Production of accurate and reliable management information pack within agreed deadlines;
• Production of quality presentation suitable to be presented to the board within agreed timelines;
• Continual business and country support;
• Production of understandable process mapping documentation within agreed timelines;
• Set-up and maintenance of annual budgeting and forecasting planning processes.

Problem solving
• Candidate will need to be able to manage high work volumes, strategising, dealing with difficult and late requests both from Group and Business.
• Refer to group policies / definitions if there is ambiguity in terms of guidance. Use initiative to evaluate whether approach is reasonable / possible in the Africa Finance space.
• Required to investigate to obtain additional information or deal with ambiguity in compiling MI
Planning
• Planning needs to be done for a minimum of one year in advance.
• Monthly update of the plan required, over critical periods, daily communication is required.
• Required to provide for flexibility/re-evaluation in line with changing business needs.
Decision making
• Can business requirements for MI be met with limited information available
• Not applicable in terms of signing power
