• Draft, maintain and update the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Exchange Control Application and Renewal guidelines for Africa (Implement a policy for Africa.)
• To refine the South African Reserve Bank Exchange Control Application and Renewal reporting process for Africa to improve on the excellent service to our customers
• In providing this service, the incumbent will need to work closely with Heads of Business Units and Directors in Africa and their Finance Counterparts, as delivery of appropriate support will depend on effective teamwork, co-operation and avoidance of rejection of foreign payments due to non-conformance to SARB regulations and legislations.
• Systems re-engineering (Reporting, RE1 and RE2) for Africa to improve on the excellent service to our customers (Merge the operations and accounting aspects with ease)
• Ad hoc Projects: This will include mini projects which will arise
• due to business needs at that time as well as being involved in
• any project that will ensure the success of the team
• Manage operational and performance objectives of functions of
• reports and ensuring timeous outflow of management
• information packs to relevant areas within the bank
• Develop and improve processes through continuously looking at alternatives to improve and challenge current status quo
• Support and coach direct reports through identifying growth opportunities and other means to improve staff performance
• Manage integration of relationships of activities between all stakeholders.
• Presenting reporting, commentary and indexing timeously
• Resolving queries regarding Exchange Control Approvals and administration timeously
• Monitor and stay abreast of technological, legal and operational changes that affect the activities and work processes of the unit.
• Make recommendations for and develop/carry out improvements to the unit to meet changing requirements
• Deliver monthly and ad hoc reports to the desired quality and at agreed time
• Effectively identify, analyse, plan, monitor and control risk as it pertains to Reserve Bank Exchange Control approvals in the bank, understand and follow risk protocols
• Contribute to the improvement of the quality of Exchange Control reporting by highlighting exceptions to the relevant parties and coaching staff.
• Share knowledge, best practices and standards with the team to improve day to day operational activities
• Consolidate and report on performance for this area, against Service Level Agreements and objectives. Manage resolution of escalated service issues. Ensure that the required controls are in place to monitor and reduce exposure to operational risk/losses
• Ensure appropriate recruitment and selection, placement, training, recognition, performance management, coaching, engagement practices, career development and remuneration of staff within the team.
• Responsible for the end to end line management accountabilities as it relates to the team
• Monitor the resources performance and ensure feedback is provided at regular intervals and corrective action is taken were performance gaps are identified
• Lead and mentor team members to ensure that they have the appropriate skills to deliver and contribute to the development of the individual and the group
• Ensure that staff engagement skills are deployed and maintained in the team
• Develop, enhance and maintain relationships with the internal and external business partners and stakeholders to ensure that requirements and expectations are clearly understood and delivery on these is managed
