The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the post of MARKETING AND PROMOTION OFFICER.

Job Title: MARKETING AND PROMOTION OFFICER

Supervisor: Chief of the Facilities Management Unit
Directorate: Administration and Human Resources Development
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Facilities Management Unit the Officer shall be in charge of:
‐ Management and allocation of space
‐ Contributes to the plan and programme of the Facilities Management Unit
‐ Preparation of contracts for concession space and other lease and rent contracts
‐ Liaises with other Departments and Services of the Commission to ensure the efficient response to their needs
‐ Maintains contacts with clients to ensure their satisfaction with services provided
‐ Develops and maintain a data base of clients and their specific requirements
‐ Prepares calendar of event and liaise with promotion officer to promote them
‐ Prepares regular reports to the Chief of Unit on the activities under his
responsibility
‐ Ensures that all the needs of the Commission for Conference space are efficiently managed

‐ The promotion and marketing of all the Center facilities for use by outside clients
‐ Develops a strategy and plan for the branding of all the AUC Conference
Facilities
‐ Develops, produces and disseminates, publicity materials for the Facilities
‐ Collaborates with graphic designers in the design and production of state of the art publicity materials for the Center
‐ Seeks and identify potential clients and solicit their patronage of the AUC
Facilities
‐ Promotes actively all events organized in the Center, particularly for outside clients
‐ Collaborates with other similar facilities and hotels in the marketing and promotion of the AUC facilities
‐ Manages public information and public relations of the Center
‐ Develops, establishes and promotes the AUC souvenir shop
‐ Manages the production of all publicity materials and ensure their compliance with the Center and AUC standards
‐ Conceives, designs, produces and disseminates the Facilities Promotional News
Letter
‐ Prepares and submits the Chief of Unit regular report on the activities under him
4. Qualifications and Experience Required:
A minimum University Bachelor Degree in Administration, Management, Business of Marketing, Management
5. Professional experience required:
• At least 5years of progressively responsible experience in Management of
Administration of a large service delivery unit preferably in the conference of large hotel fields
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the promotion of a service oriented organization preferably in the Conference or large hotel business.
6. Other Relevant Skills:
‐ Excellent interpersonal skills

‐ Excellent time management skills
‐ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
‐ Ability to work in a multicultural environment and meet the needs of a multicultural clientele.

6. Language Requirement:
Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Proficiency of one or several other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
7. Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 25 and 35 years old.
8. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months be consider as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two (2) years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

10. Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary US$27,892.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. post adjustment (46% of basic salary), housing allowance (US$14,414.40 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
