CRS/Rwanda is looking for a qualified individual with high profile in economic and rural development , including experience with economic strengthening, microfinance, saving groups and value chain development to fill the position of Head of Economic Strengthening Unit. Economic Strengthening is an area that CRS/Rwanda is highly valuing as a growth opportunity especially in terms playing a key role in supporting Rwanda Vision 2020 as well as other Rwanda development strategies through ED-PRS. This is with a particular focused on rural development to meet its mission and strategic objectives.
At CRS/Rwanda, the Head of Economic Strengthening Unit supports the Country Program to strategically address growth opportunities in this area. Strategically oversee economic strengthening component at CRS/Rwanda. Ensure high level coordination with partners in the area of economic strengthening; proactively play a key role in the growth of the country program. Supervises, coach and mentor staff in the economic strengthening Unit.
This position is considered part of the senior staff team and offers competitive working conditions.
The successful candidate will at minimum have the following Qualifications and Skills:
- At least a Master´s degree in Economics, Rural Development or related field plus 5-7 years professional experience in Economic Strengthening programming
- Demonstrated experience in Microfinance, saving groups, value chain development and/or business oriented solutions for rural population, especially women
- Previous experience working with local partners organizations
- Demonstrated commitment to gender-responsive programming
- Strong leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams, to engage and motivate staff and solve challenges in an innovative manner
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Kinyarwanda. French would be an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with people, good judgment and commitment to CRS´s mission
- Ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time to remote areas of the country
- Advanced computer skills - MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
