The SADC Secretariat invites suitably qualified, experienced, innovative, result oriented and self driven individuals who are citizens of Botswana to apply for the following position under the SADC HIV and AIDS Cross Border Initiative Project tenable at SADC Secretariat Headquarters
Position: Assistant Procurement Officer
Main purpose of the job
Reporting to the SADC Secretariat Procurement Officer, the Assistant Procurement Officer (APO) will be responsible for procurement information management, document recording and tracking the procurement at all times. The specific tasks and scope of work for the Assistant Procurement Officer will include the following:
- Procure all items for the Cross Border HIV Project
- Track all procurement assignments at all times
- Prepare records (minutes) during the entire procurement and
- Preparation of solicitation documents and evaluation reports required through the procurement process using established SADC formats and guidelines.
- Develops and implements a procurement processes monitoring system to eliminate deficiencies in procurement at PR and SR levels
- Maintenance and regular updating of suppliers' registers.
- Administer the issuance of local purchase orders for acquisition of supplies etc.
- Oversees adherence to contractual agreements, recommend amendments and contract extensions, advise concerned parties with respect to contractual rights/obligations;
- Provide training and guidance to programme staff
- Conduct periodic procurement audits
Qualifications
- First Degree in a technical area/Business Studies or social science or equivalent
- Professional qualifications or course progression from certified professional bodies in Procurement Management e.g. Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) UK, e.t.c. will be an added advantage
Experience
- Candidates must possess at least 2 years working experience in procurement activities
Competencies
- Computer knowledge in the use of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project) is mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with a multiplicity of stakeholders
Contract
2 years Package: Grade 10a US$(22982-28784) per annum
