North Mara Mine site in Tanzania is currently searching for an experienced HME Superintendent. The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of business outcomes by ensuring the development of maintenance plans and schedules which maximise operational efficiency and minimise mining equipment and mill downtime and costs.
The HME Engineering section is responsible for all HME maintenance activities within the mine. This includes collection of relevant data, interpretation of the data, management of data quality, maintenance scheduling, etc Delivering of quality maintenance service to all customers within the mine. Strong input to data interpretation for maintenance planning and scheduling, inventory management and operational decision making. Interdepartmental liaison; periodical reporting of maintenance and cost activities. KEY RESULT AREAS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: |
· Ensure all African Barrick Gold safe work practices are observed, and implemented in the HME Engineering department
· Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
· Ensure HME maintenance groups perform to pre-determined performance measures for safety, equipment availability, reliability, and cost.
· Supervising, training, developing and localisation of the HME maintenance team.
· Comply to end of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan in each functional area of mine maintenance.
· The quality, cost and timeliness of maintenance activities are critical to the project as a whole. Ensure maintenance standards are set and met in each functional area.
· Ensure HME maintenance costs are managed to, or below assigned budget in each functional area of daily maintenance operations, rebuild, and ancillary equipment.
· Foster a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of HME.
· Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore processing and mining activities.
· Overseeing all HME maintenance activities and employee training and development, including opencast dewatering functions, and support of all support equipment (lighting plants, gensets larger than 100kVA, Heavy Goods Vehicles above 3 ton, rigging and lifting)
- Implement maintenance plans and schedules. Compilation of plant and equipment maintenance cost data for budgets
- Monitor all maintenance activities and eliminate any wasteful practices, ensuring agreed targets for maintenance are met
- Support all maintenance related projects.
- Assist with information gathering for capital projects.
- Develop and manage departmental tactical plans to achieve the overall business objective.
- Be involved with Barrick NMM continuous Improvement programs as and when needed
- Facilitate various courses and presentations as and when required
- Fill other roles and responsibilities in an acting capacity when required or when designated within the maintenance department.
Qualifications
· Tertiary, trade or technical certificate level qualification · Experience in large open cut and/or underground mining operation or large scale civil engineering projects · Minimum of eight (8) years experience in a mine and mineral processing maintenance senior supervisory role · Expatriate experience in a developing country |
Practical/Specialist Skills: |
· Good working knowledge of maintenance planning techniques/software · Experienced in current maintenance practices and techniques · Good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite: dBase, word processing, spread sheeting and the site based CMMS (Pronto) · Driving ability |
Other Skills or Competencies: |
