The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Computer Management Assistant (LAN) in the Information Management Office of the Embassy.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent serves as the FSN LAN Computer Management Assistant for the American Embassy and reports directly to the Systems Manager. He or she has the following responsibility on Open Net and DIN Networks; install , configure and troubleshoots, including but not limited to, desktops, peripherals, laptops, printers, scanners, servers, standalones; installs and maintains desktop and server security updates and patches; configure and update client/server applications on workstations and servers and manages security profiles for application; develop and update image library, and conduct hardware and software interoperability testing; install, configure and maintain network hardware such as switch, router and encryption devices; create, transfer and manage Open Net user accounts and
responsible for providing technical support to end users permitting them to more effectively utilize hardware and software.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. 1. Required Education: Bachelor Degree in computer science or Electrical Engineering is required.
2. Required Experience: Three years performing progressively responsible experience in the operation, or utilization of computer systems, experience in installation, configuration, and programming of network applications and all aspects of systems analysis and design out of which one year experience should be in the use of spreadsheet functions and formatting and database programming utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of applications ,experience with communication equipment especially in the area of wireless networking and VoIP is required.
Trainee Level Experience: Two years performing progressively responsible experience in operation, or utilization of computer systems, experience in installation, configuration, and programming of network applications and all aspects of systems analysis and design out of which one year experience should be in the use of spreadsheet functions and formatting and database programming utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of applications ,experience with communication equipment especially in the area of wireless networking and VoIP is required.
3. Language Requirement: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading of English language is required. (English language proficiency will be tested)
4. Other Skills: Incumbent must have a good working knowledge of applications, programming, and basic systems hardware analysis and design, including installation and troubleshooting techniques of DOS, Windows 9x, MS Office 9x Suite of Applications, Windows 9x/NT/2000, database server (MS SQL server, MS Access 2000); knowledge of using of Internet systems ; a good working knowledge of routers, switches, 802.11b, VoIP, and Cisco's AVVID architecture skill in computer systems to obtain support for actions that will enhance automation and/or effective management of computer resources and good technical skills to troubleshoot software problems and to maximize the capabilities of the post computer resources are required.
5. Interpersonal Skill Requirements Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and embassy personnel and public is required.
SELECTION PROCESS

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
