Fistula Care is an Associate Cooperative Agreement Award granted by USAID to EngenderHealth. The purpose of Fistula Care is to strengthen the capacity of hospitals to provide fistula repair, to enhance community and facility understanding and practices to prevent fistula, to gather, analyze, report and use data to strengthen the quality of fistula services, and to strengthen the supportive environment to institutionalize fistula prevention, repair and reintegration programs.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Program Associate provides the overall technical support to Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and FP Integration activities of the project. She will also lead the project's Advocacy efforts in Uganda. The Senior Program Associate will also supervise some of the work of the Program Associate.
RESPONSIBLITIES
• Provide programmatic and technical guidance in monitoring and evaluation of the fistula care project and the documentation of lessons learned
• Coordinate gathering of data, analysis and reporting data from all fistula care activities (prevention, treatment and reintegration) to be submitted to the USAID Mission and New York.
• Prepare and update country specific Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP), adapted from the Global Fistula Care PMP and review on a periodic basis in consultation with NY technical staff.
• Regularly provide information on progress towards targets and assist site level staff utilize data for decision-making to improve the quality of services
• Collaborate with Ugandan partners, staff and New York staff on planning, managing and implementation research projects as may be determined.
• Coordinate, implement and maintain an effective database and reporting formats for detailing results of monitoring and evaluation activities.
• Collaborate with the Senior Medical Associate to introduce, support and evaluate COPE approach in sites supported through the country office.
• Lead the advocacy activities of the Fistula Care Project at the district and national level including providing guidance to development of materials to support these activities.
• Coordinate with MOH to strengthen HMIS system and use of data regarding fistula at facility and district level.
• Oversee the development and adaptation of the integration model to fistula and other maternal health services.
• Use information derived from program activities to inform service delivery and future activities of the country office.
• Participate in dissemination and training activities of EH in the country, region and international meetings.
• Ensure that lessons learned and potential best practices related of the country office activities are well document, disseminated and contribute to developing strategies to replicate them in the country, region and globally.
• Represent EngenderHealth at relevant meetings with donors, implementing partners and other external audiences in the country.
• Keep abreast of groundbreaking work in RH and disseminate new knowledge to staff and partners.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
1. Advanced graduate degree in public health or a related field preferably demography or statistics degree highly desirable
2. 5 years’ experience in program development and management of facility-based RH services, with at least 3 years’ experience in integrating family planning with other RH services
3. Extensive knowledge in family planning, clinic-based maternity care, prevention, care and treatment, informed choice and client-provider interaction, training, participatory and gender-sensitive approaches.
4. Excellent writing and communication skills and abilities
5. Significant long- and/or short-term experience in providing field-based TA in area of RH in Africa preferred.
6. Fluency in English required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
2. Experience in technical skills for training health workers in East Africa at both basic and advance level.
3. Have well developed documentation skills, able to write high level reports to donors, partners.
4. Budgeting and computer skills to conduct field activities effectively.
5. M&E experience to evaluate health programs.
