CARE is seeking applications for Senior HIV/AIDS Prevention Advisor (Biomedical) candidates interested in participating in CARE’s submission for the USAID-funded Mulu Prevention Project. The USAID Ethiopia Mulu Prevention Project is designed to reduce the number of new HIV infections in Ethiopia. The program will support the efforts of GoE in meeting the Strategic Plan for intensifying a Multi-sectoral HIV and AIDS (SPM) II targets of intensifying HIV prevention in Ethiopia.
Summary
The overall goal of this program is to contribute to the national target of reducing new infections by 50% by 2014. By the end of the fifth year, the service coverage for most at-risk populations (MARPs) shall increase. This program aims to achieve the following objectives: (1)prevent new HIV infections by reducing behavioral risk factors among most-at-risk populations and other highly vulnerable populations (2)strengthen community level systems and structures to support combination prevention (3)increase the capacity of GoE to lead HIV prevention interventions that are based on the local epidemiology of new infections.
Required Qualifications
· Master in Public Health, International Health, Reproductive Health or related biomedical sciences is required and medical or clinical degree is desirable.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment
· Experience in providing HIV prevention technical leadership/support to a Ministry of Health , partners and other structural interventions.
· Specialized knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the area of Biomedical interventions and other clinical services in the continuum of care.
· Demonstrated experience in the development of HIV prevention materials
· Demonstrated experience as technical advisor/lead to programs with similar or comparable scope or complexity.
· Previous relevant clinical experience in the area of HIV, STI and other RH issues is desirable.
· Experience working in development of HIV prevention educational materials.
