IFC PEP Africa works in partnership with donors, governments, and the private sector to deliver programs and advisory services that accelerate the development of the private sector as the engine for reducing poverty and improving people’s lives. The Finance team in PEP Africa is seeking a Finance Analyst based in Johannesburg. | |
Duties and Accountabilities: | |
Budgeting and Monitoring: • Prepare annual as well as cycle budget for PEP and to monitor variances regularly. • Assist the program team in preparation of Project budgets and their review. • Prepare project, program management and general and administration budgets in each fiscal year to incorporate in the annual budget. • Monitor the Advisory budget monthly and highlight variances. • Monitor project expenses within budget very closely against and between Systems Analysis Product (SAP) and IBIS, and to report to the program team. • Monitor cost-sharing arrangements between various budgets and monitor charges accordingly and also monitor the renewal of Memoranda of Understanding when required. Reporting/Analytics: • Develop various internal and external reports such as monthly financial reports, donor reports, PEP consolidated monthly reports on COGNOS environment, etc. • Prepare monthly and quarterly project financial performance reports. • Reconcile Headquarter-prepared budget figures with those prepared in the Region. • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports at the request of Management. Imprest: • Review Imprest transactions for the Programs and ensure a STRONG scorecard rating. • Ensure that rental adjustments, prepayments, accruals, reposting are done on time • Creation of WBS. Client Support: • Communicate with Imprest service desk, Resource Management advisory service, Travel accounting service, and other services to solve different issues for program team members; • Provide continuous support to the program team in respect of Integrated Budgeting Information Solutions (IBIS), Project Tracking and Monitoring Reporting System (PTMRS), Project Data Sheet Early Review/Approval, project budget, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and expense related issues. • Guide own team members on different issues. • Provide training/make presentations on budgeting and IFC/World Bank Group policy matters to internal clients. Others: • Monitor the cash balance regularly and update the cash flow projection. • Monitor the donor outstanding commitments and to call for funding. • Clear projects in Advisory Services (AS) portal/i-desk after validating data in IBIS. • Ensure Time Recording Systems (TRS) compliance. • Any other task as assigned by the Finance Officer. | |
Selection Criteria: | |
• Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent). • At least 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial management in an international corporate setting, or at least 3 years’ experience for candidates holding an internationally recognized accounting or finance designation (CA, CMA, CPA, etc.). • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Internet, Lotus Notes, SAP, Excel and Access. • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely convey necessary information, explain reasoning, and support conclusions using data and facts. • Excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit. • Ability to work under pressure on complex or new issues with minimum supervision. • Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills. • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines. • Keen attention to detail and good quality assurance skills. • Proven ability to exercise good judgment, tact and discretion in responding to inquiries and dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. | |
