General Information
The Commonwealth Foundation is an intergovernmental body that seeks to strengthen civil society across the Commonwealth so that it can promote democracy, advance sustainable development and foster intercultural understanding. After a period of re-organisation and ahead of a re-launch in 2012*, the Foundation is looking for a new Deputy Director to work with a newly appointed Director to assist with the development of this important Commonwealth institution during a pivotal period in its history.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Director, the Deputy Director will manage around 10 staff responsible for the Foundation's grant-making and programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to help increase the reach and impact of the Foundation.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of working at a senior level in an international context with excellent project management skills.
Applications are encouraged from all Commonwealth country nationals. The basic salary for the post will be £67,000 per annum, subject to an internal tax system which is equivalent to UK PAYE. An additional 15 % tax free gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract period, and there is an excellent holiday allowance of 30 days (plus 8 UK Public holidays and 4 privilege holidays). Non-UK citizens will also be entitled to further allowances including re-location costs.
The role is based in London at Marlborough House, the prestigious royal residence, in the heart of the Commonwealth family of organisations. This role is currently offered on a 3 year contract (with 1 renewal), though this is being reviewed and will be open to negotiation.
