The role
SMEC has the following opening in its Dar es Salaam Office for Senior Power System Planning Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Transmission and distribution power system studies carried out as part of detailed feasibility studies.
- Supervising small engineering teams to perform transmission planning technical studies required to develop baseline transmission expansion plans;
- Performing systems modelling, analysis and simulation using industrial standard software;
- Developing, preparing and maintaining all necessary transmission system software models of client networks;
- Carrying out preliminary design, site selection and supervision of technical investigations required for feasibility studies; and
- Preparing thorough and precise technical reports, documentation, and any other assigned reports for projects.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or higher In Electrical Engineering;
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a related field, 3 years of which includes high voltage transmission system planning, engineering and design in a consulting or utility environment;
- Experience using industrial standard software such as PSS/E, DigSilent, ETAP, PowerWorld, etc.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports, studies or analysis and specifications.
