Logistic Services Manager Africa
The role
Management of the Logistics function within Product Area Customer Service to ensure cost effective and on-time distribution of parts and tools to internal and external Sandvik Customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that Sandvik Policies and Procedures are adhered to, and provide proactive and visible safety leadership in all daily activities.
- Participation in safety improvement activities
- Setting highest standards of personal safety
- Report all accidents, incidents, and injuries immediately and complete all relevant documentation.
- Adopt a proactive approach to building a sustainable safety culture within the workplace.
- Responsible for overseeing all day to day operation of the Logistics team
- Work actively with Inventory, Warehouse and Dispatch teams to ensure efficient flow of customer orders through Distribution Services
- Interface with Order Desk, Customer Services Centres, front line Sales Staff to ensure expected customer service levels are met and where necessary (i.e. Machine Down or Capital Equipment movements) custom freight solutions are provided.
- Maintain data integrity of freight management systems used by Distribution Services
- Manage freight invoice and claims processes for all shipments
- Manage customs brokers to ensure Sandvik freight is cleared in the most expedient way and where necessary troubleshoot by providing additional documentation and information.
- Assist the Global Freight & Indirect purchasing teams in tender processes by providing input on requirements for the African region
- Analysing cost trends and freight performance. Identifying areas of concern, investigating the causes and and manage and implement logistic services improvement projects
- Ensure the team is aware of the latest developments in (International) Freight and where necessary provide or organise training
Your profile
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related field well regarded
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position in a Warehousing/Distribution/Supply Chain environment
- Experience managing internal and/or external customer service would be desired
- Experience in managing people or teams in different locations in Africa would be desired
- Good working knowledge of International Trade and Freight Insurance processes
- Good working knowledge of Operational Freight processes (Booking, Invoice Validation)
- Experience in managing Logistics Service Providers
- Experience with a Transport Management System desirable
- Prior exposure to Aurora, DI and Qlikview highly desired
- Proficient in Microsoft office,
- Exposure to Accounts Payable Processes
