Youth Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting an Innovator between the ages of 18 and 35 for a six-week focused project in Zanzibar, Tanzania starting September 2014 (dates flexible).

This exciting opportunity will include a pre-project distance-learning program, followed by an intensive six-week placement in Tanzania. While in Tanzania, you will work with YCI’s partner organization Zanzibar NGO Clusters (ZANGOC), to further the reach and relevance of the Gender Equity programs.
Key Project Activities Include:
• Conduct workshops based on dissemination of ZANGOC gender policy program among member organizations.
• Support ZANGOC GET team working on issues of gender equality and prevention of gender based violence.
• Design a Radio and TV program on the issues of gender equality.
• Organize forums based on Gender Policy for both public and private officials so as to raise awareness of gender-related issues in Zanzibar.
Recommended Skills and Experience:
• Background knowledge of gender equality, women empowerment or the humanities
• Proven experience in facilitation and gender mainstreaming
• Public speaking or facilitation skills
• Proven experience in designing, planning, and implementing project activities that support gender equality and promote equal participation of women and men in public affairs
• Demonstrated experience in project management; good understanding of the local environment in which gender related activities are practiced
• Skilled and experience in producing and airing radio and television programming
Fundraising Goal: YCI volunteers are required to fundraise and/or contribute a minimum of $600 for these projects to contribute towards YCI’s global youth development programs.
