Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT) is a Trust funded by five international development partners; DANIDA, DFTAD-Canada, DFID, SIDA, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 'he FSDT's goal is to generate sustainable improvements in the livelihoods of poor households through reduced vulnerability to shocks increased incomes and employment achieved through greater access to financial services for more men, women and businesses, FSDT aims to further develop the country's financial system to provide greater access to financial services to more men, women, and enterprises. The FSDT intends to appoint a Head of Insurance who will focus on overseeing FSDT's insurance initiatives at the macro, meso, and micro levels.
The Head of Insurance will report to Operations Director and will
primarily focus on:
Driving regulatory policy analysis by advising FSDTs partners on micro-insurance
Managing and developing FSDT's micro-insurance portfolio of projects and investments.
Serving as a thought leader in micro-insurance within Tanzania by bringing information about innovations, best practice, and successes/failures from other markets to key stakeholders
Providing specialist advice on micro-insurance to relevant entities helping them advance their efforts in financial inclusion
Collaborating with other theme heads
Managing and building the expertise of other member of the micro-insurance team
Supporting the Executive Director, Operations Director, and other management
Summary o/key duties and responsibilities
The Head of Insurance will be accountable and responsible for among others to:
Engage with the policy makers and regulators to provide
strategic inputs and assistance related to micro-insurance development .
Provide thought leadership to FSD Tanzania and the market to accelerate the growth of micro-insurance for financial inclusion and rural access
Organize and manage technical assistance to Micro- Insurance providers, MNOs, financial institutions, and other stakeholders. Include support for developing proposals to FSD Tanzania '
Develop, manage and ensure the successful implementation
FSDT's strategy for micro-insurance
Liaise with international institutions, other donor programs, and investors to improve capacity, promote greater harmonisation of approach, and maximise the achievement of
FSD Tanzania's goals
Oversee all activities within team, ensuring high levels of efficiency and success
Support the Executive Team and the Financial Manager who are responsible for ensuring that FSDT's operations and administration runs effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications and skills required
At least 5 years' experience working in insurance industry, financial services, consulting firms with a focus on risk mitigation approaches, or a combination of these .
Knowledge of related regulations, as well as the ability and confidence to engage at the highest levels within regulators, policy makers and other government agencies.
Have exposure to a range of micro-insurance strategies from around the world.
Flexibility and willingness to work with tight deadlines is a requirement of this role.
Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to be an excellent team player is a must.
The Head of Insurance will travel within Tanzania and other Sub-Saharan African countries will be required. This role will be three Year contract, subject to performance. The contract may be renewed by mutual agreement.
