Job Description
• To assist in growing the event as a key brand-building activity that is expected to continue raising the already high profile of Standard Chartered Bank across East Africa.• To assist the Project Manager and the Marathon’s core teams to deliver the event’s Strategic and Operational objectives.
•To sit in the capacity of Member to the National Steering Committee as well as the Secretary to the cross-functional marathon implementation committee
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1.Work with the project manager and other parties in the execution of all Marathon milestones; collateral marketing and public relations materials produced on time and ensure they meet Group standards.
2.Manage the budget efficiently through continuous tracking of expenditure against budget and ensure the Secretariat gets the highest possible return.
3.Handle the administration of procurement process in accordance to Global Sourcing Policy and ensuring timely delivery on marathon materials .
4.Support the sales effort by developing tools that will enhance sales effectiveness to Sponsors, Corporates and individual athletes
5.Provide in-depth analysis and reconciliation of all General Ledger Accounts to ensure resources are allocated to the assigned areas whilst ensuring pricing strategies, credit policies and all operational risk policies are adhered to.
6.Work closely with the project manager and the core team to drive co-sponsors’ recruitment initiatives.
7.Work with the project manager in managing all sponsors of the event to ensure buy in, participation and delivery of all sponsorship benefits with a view to grow and nurture the relationship
8.Co-ordinate registration process and database management ensuring the database is up to date with correct runner’s details and for individuals and corporate registrations from online registration, the secretariat, supermarkets and any other registration points.
9.Manage reconciliation of the registration fees collection and timely submission to Seeing is Believing.
10.Ensure marathon documents are well kept including entries forms for the event.
11.Ensure the marathon website is regularly up-dated with accurate information
12.Initiate and support employee engagement and participation in the event.
13.Provide leadership, training and guidance in the development of all indirect reports and third party contractors with a view to enhance efficiency in delivering the marathon.
14.Develop and implement all temporary staff requirements and needs.
15.Track and monitor competitive activity and continuously look for opportunities to maintain a competitive advantage.
16.Provide support on a periodic basis on other Bank’s sponsorship initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Graduate with a minimum of 2 years experience at management level
Must have the capability to operate independently and to run with initiatives to the end.
Must have strong attention to detail, protocol, and quality.
Strong planning, organization and co-ordination skills.
Ability to manage high volume of events simultaneously.
Confident in building/maintaining effective working relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally.
Strong team work ability.
Broad events experience, which must include delivery of conferences, large scale meetings and corporate entertainment locally.
Experience of working with senior levels of management.
Have extensive communication and strong organization skills with an excellent eye for detail.
Must be able to work well under pressure, have a good sense of humor and be able to adapt to a continually changing environment.
