BACKGROUND:
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is a worldwide network which has since 1996 successfully been supporting countries in their efforts to implement a more equitable and sustainable management of their water resources. During this period, GWP focus has gradually expanded from global to regional, national and sub-national level. The network spans over 80 countries in 13 regions, with its secretariat located in Stockholm, Sweden. For more information, visit www.gwpforum.org. The Eastern Africa Region is one of the GWPnetworks established, whose Secretariat is located in Entebbe-Uganda, hosted by Nile Basin Secretariat. The GWP Eastern Africa Region’s Secretariat (GWPEA) seeks to hire competent and qualified men and women to fill the regional position with below details:
The overall responsibility of GWPEA Finance Officer includes but not limited to the financial accounting and reporting; cash flow forecasting, financial management, and reporting on GWP EnA finances. The position is primarily responsible for all the GWP-EnA finance management, reporting to NBI’s Head of Administration and Finances, and working under the day-to-day supervision of the GWPEA Regional Coordinator.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
A. Financial Record keeping and updates of the Financial Management System in place.
C. Budget preparation and administration
Ensure that all payments of GWPEA clients and vendors are processed and paid in a timely manner.
E. Cash and cash flow management

Qualifications | •A Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or any other related degree in business studies from a recognised university •Post qualification experience of at least 7 years in accounting and financial management. •Professional qualifications from any internationally recognised accountancy bodies (e.g. CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CFPA, etc.) will be of added advantage. •Proven computer literacy, in MS Office and window- based applications and working knowledge of computerised accounting systems. •Experience working with SUNSYSTEM is required or any other financial management software. •Experience in tracking the financial progress of projects, handling funds from donors, and reporting in multiple exchange rates will be an advantage. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. |
How to Apply | This is a Regional position and the related appointment is on contract for a duration that will be for one (1) year starting with a 6-month probation period. The work station is Entebbe, Uganda, although work might necessitate trips to the other GWP EnA countries and beyond.
