Established over 13 years ago, jobs.ac.uk continues to grow rapidly year-on-year and in order to meet our growth plans we need to recruit talented PHP developers to join our fast growing team.

As part of our web development team you will be helping to maintain the current site but more importantly, playing a role in improving the site by introducing new functionality to enhance both the jobseeker and recruiter experience.

We are looking to build our web development team and have posts available from assistant developer through to senior developer. The full range of skills and experience we are looking for is provided below but please note that only the most senior post requires the full skillset.

• Hand coding PHP (v5) scripting language
• Use of relational Database Management Systems, specifically MySQL
• HTML, XHTML, CSS and javascript including use of javascript libraries such as jQuery and template engines such as Smarty
• Object oriented programming
• Use of rapid application development frameworks such as Zend Framework
• Development cycles and use of version control systems such as subversion
• Knowledge of current accessibility and technical standards for web development
• Knowledge of web application security threats and appropriate remedial actions
• SEO and use of site statistics tools such as Google Analytics
• Experience of converting business requirements into development plans with corresponding time estimations
• Managing and developing websites in a business environment working both with internal teams and third party providers
• Leading others in the delivery of projects
